The Chicago Code: Can Teresa Solve Another Valentine's Day Massacre?




The Chicago Code's Teresa Colvin (Jennifer Beals) has had the support of her fellow police officers in her fight to rid the city of corruption... until now.

"There is the old guard who does things the old way, the corrupt way, and that's not good enough anymore," Beals tells TVGuide.com. "She has to raise the moral standard in her own department. There are people who understand what she's trying to do and a lot of very powerful people who don't and are trying to take her down."

In Monday's episode, after a multiple homicide takes place at the site of the infamous St. Valentine's Day Massacre, the mayor (guest star John Heard) puts the screws to Colvin in the press to clear the case quickly. Seizing on her moment of weakness, the police union calls for an emergency vote to potentially remove Teresa from power.

"This is the biggest test for her, something we've been building towards," creator and executive producer Shawn Ryan says. "This episode allows us to look at the political pressures that one in her position faces. Trying to achieve consensus amongst a group of opinionated, armed officers is a tough task. She really has to scramble to defend herself. We see her rise and take her own fate in her hands."

Although Beals admires her character's steely resolve, her dedication to her work has created a noticeable lack of a personal life. "That's part of the price she has to pay," Beals says. "Who do you lose along the way? If you're completely focused on this one thing, there are other relationships that are going to fall by the wayside."

But she says that won't necessarily be the case as the season winds down. Look for a return appearance from Adam Arkin's Chief Cuyler to stir the pot. "She has paid a personal cost to have this career she has," Ryan says. "There will be some temptation with [Cuyler]. She's going to make a choice between her professional life and personal life. Or is there a way to balance the two?"

The Chicago Code airs Mondays at 9/8c on Fox.

no hace falta permiso, es más, gracias por hacerlo :), yo, como normalmente me suelo orientar sobre el sentido por palabras sueltas, no me atrevo a poner traducciones libres por temor a alterar el sentido, por eso los pongo tal cual en inglés, así que encantada de que te tomes el tiempo para hacerlo más claro para mí también :))

“Bathhouse & Hinky Dink” (Monday, May 2):

While Teresa (Jennifer Beals) and Jarek (Jason Clarke) set the stage for their case against Alderman Gibbons (Delroy Lindo), their effort to clean up Chicago takes an unexpected turn when a deadlocked jury acquits a corrupt city official (guest star Bruce Nozick). Suspicious, the two mount an investigation, only to discover that jury tampering is just the tip of the iceberg.

“Black Sox” (Monday, May 9):

Following a murder that appears to be a hate crime, Teresa risks tipping Gibbons off to her big-picture plan by boldly taking on the Chicago Police Department’s corrupt “meritorious” promotion system. Meanwhile, Jarek is forced to face his own reality when Vonda (Devin Kelley) receives an anonymous package that reveals more about the Wysocki family.

“Greylord & Gambat” (Monday, May 16):

The case against Alderman Gibbons escalates, and Teresa, Jarek and Caleb (Matt Lauria) scramble to locate a star witness. As undercover cop Liam Hennessey (Billy Lush) continues to assemble evidence, he’s forced to take matters into his own hands.

“Mike Royko’s Revenge” (Monday, May 23):

It’s the moment of truth for the city of Chicago and the Chicago Police Department. FBI Special Agent Cuyler (guest star Adam Arkin) returns to pay Superintendent Colvin a visit, and Jarek stops at nothing to address family issues that have haunted him for years. When Jarek and Teresa are forced to put everything on the line, the stakes are raised as their case against the kingpin of corruption in Chicago comes to a climactic conclusion.

Looks like I got at least one of my wishes – the return of Adam Arkin’s FBI agent. This is going to be a fun final four.
